Codex Australia was in operation from 2011 to 2014. The following is reproduced from its website. Over its three years of operation, it achieved many of its goals.
Codex Australia Incorporated is a non-profit educational organisation dedicated to preserve and promote the handmade book as a work of art and to bring to public recognition the artists, the craftsmanship, the achievements, and the rich history of the civilisation of the book in Australia.
Our constituency consists of professional and amateur artisans, educators, publishers, libraries, art galleries, artists, writers, and scholars who have an interest in the art of the book. Codex Australia is an Affiliate Member of The CODEX Foundation in Berkeley, California, and is co-affiliate with Codex Mexico.
As a non-profit organisation with volunteer staff and helpers, we must rely on sales of our publications and donations for the successful achievement of our program. Your contributions will support the biennial Codex Exhibition and Symposium, annual public lecture, handmade book awards and publishing program, as well as promoting Australian handmade books in local and international contexts.
Partnerships are open to individuals, companies and institutions who wish to join with Codex Australia as a Partner in specific events, exhibitions, publications or other events independently of the Sponsorships outlined above. There are no fixed requirements for the Partnerships, and each Partnership would be managed in its own terms.
Codex Australia seeks to work in conjunction with other bibliophilic and book arts organisations to support public programs and other initiatives in the field of the book arts within Australia and between Australia and the international community.
